This Holiday Season

posted by The Truth is There @ 6:25pm, Tuesday 23rd December 2008.

Well, as the Beatles once sang, Christmas Time is Here Again. Once again people are acting uptight, rude, and downright mean. To make things worse, the economy is in the pits, making this a bleak time for many companies. This year, the really good prices will definately be after Christmas. I myself plan to go out the next day, after getting rid of comcast and welcoming Verizon FiOS.

What I will be looking for this year is some gadgets to go along with my new PC. Right now I have a pretty good laptop, Toshiba, and I really am enjoying it. So, I will be out trying to find things like external backup drives and maybe some media to burn DVD's.

But I also reflect on those who do not have as much as I do, and I really am fortunate to have things like a roof over my head, work, vehicle, and the ability to enjoy the little things. Many do not. And to be honest, I am not really in a position to help others either financially or with my time, both of which are in low supply right now. So, I can only hope that the many people who have very little are in some way fortunate enough to be touched by another, whether spiritually are financially. It is sad and hard to believe that in this country, we have people who are homeless and struggling three (3) years after a major hurricane. It is also hard to believe that many people do not even speak of it. For this is the way of our instant gratification culture, not remembering the plight of others if it isn't right in front of us. So, try to be a little kinder to that checkout person at the store, or try not to let your temper get the best of you in the customer service line. You may just make the day of someone who is having a bad one. Merry Christmas and may you have a great New Year.

Economic Meltdown

posted by The Truth is There @ 6:11pm, Saturday 6th December 2008.

The news just keeps getting worse. The unemployment rate is about 6.5%, probably much higher by the time you read this. All we hear about is the bailout. Well, it has been about a month since the bailout, and what has been fixed? Nothing. It doesn't look anything is going to get better anytime soon.

I can remember, though not clearly, how it was in 1974, which the pundits say was slightly better than what we are witnessing today. So, how is it that the housing market started this mess? Why did we let this happen, letting people get to such a point that they are losing their homes. How can we let this happen to families, that they have to decide between survival or paying their mortgage. I sometimes find it hard to believe that the people in charge of our very lives are allowed to so arrogantly play with our hard earned money. So far they have kept the money for themselves. And now the Auto industry is trying to get a piece. So, are we going to help them? We prolly will. I am happy to see that the senate is being tough on them, making them commit to how they plan to use the money. Unlike the bailout of the credit industry, in which the money did not trickle out to the rest of the country, but instead has been horded. And what of this ass Paulson. How the hell did this moron get in charge of our economic lives. Looks as if Bushco is going to leave Obama with a country on the brink of collapse.

So, now for the conspiracy part. Bushco and the GOP have pulled off one hell of a final pass. When they saw that Obama was going to pull off a win, they pulled the plug on the economy. At first they planned to set it up so that McCain would be able to play the hero in this matter and maybe win the election in a "hail Mary" play. However, they forgot that McCain is psychotic and wouldn't be able to keep from frucking it all up. So, they let things continue to spiral. Now, when Obama takes the throne from Bushco, he will be stagnated into having to deal with nothing but the economic crisis facing the world. All our hopes for the change we all wanted for our country will have to be put on hold. We may never realize the hopes we dreamed of for ourselves and our country. Of course, this is all just my opinion, I could be wrong. But, bet I'm not.....

Changing Times (or are they?)

posted by The Truth is There @ 2:51pm, Sunday 30th November 2008.

I have been pretty quiet as of late. But, now that Obama is President Elect, it is time to start writing once again. Bushco is on the way out, but they are leaving a dangerous mine field for Obama to navigate.

The bailout of wallstreet is one issue that Obama will face when he takes office. So far, this bailout has failed to do what it was intended to do, which was to free up money so that banks could start working with consumers (read Americans) again. However, all they did was hord the money, give themselves lavish retreats, and continue with the huge bonuses. So, once again, we get robbed by the Government, with no recourse but to take it up the ass. For, it seems that no matter how loud the outcry, nothing is done. AIG claims that the getaway for its executives was necessary, and the cost of hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars was well within the scope of running the company. All that was really shown was the lavish private quarters and private spas used by the employees. When asked to explain, most of them simply walked away to their private villas. These vile cowards should be held accountable under the law and should be tried and convicted of no less than stealing from the American people. And now, they are asking for more. Not to mention that non of the money was used to help any homeowners who are about to lose their homes to the very people who caused this fiasco in the first place. I know that I have been told that these companies, were they to be allowed to go under would cause a worse situation, but I think they should be allowed to collapse. Someone somewhere would take up the slack. And, if this mess ever gets straightened out, I would like to see such srict oversite that these corporate giants would be constipated.

And now, the Auto Makers are looking for a handout. The way I feel right now, they can just go under, fade away, go belly up. We helped them once and they screwed it up. So what if they no longer make new cars. The suppliers will survive making parts for exsisting vehicles. Plus, maybe we will have Auto companies created that will make sensible cars that will help the environment as well as decrease the use of gasoline. Look, no one is giving us a bailout. So, we should let the market do whqt it does best, weed out the weakest links.

So, we must keep Obama on the right track. If our government continues practicing the way it has, we must demand a change.
